1. In your words, describe what the WHW mission represent, and how you as an intern will play a part in carrying that mission forward?  The mission of WHW as per my understanding as an intern is to assist in the provision of all kind of employment support services that are required for the empowerment of underprivileged or needy people whether they are men, women or teenagers. WHW is interested in the financial independence of underprivileged people by bestowing them with employment success by helping them with employment support services. The internees are responsible for providing services to clients directly and receiving and processing donations for the clients. As internees, the mission of supporting the clients in getting employment required as per their qualifications, we provide them with professional clothing and accessories, and contribute in ‘job fairs, community events, and volunteer recruitment exhibitions’. 2.Why is it crucial to dress professionally to a job interview? What is your role as a personal shopper, and how are you going to effectively support your clients needs?  At a job interview, it is very crucial to dress professionally because it is said that appearance matters a lot and first impression on employer also counts in getting a suitable job. Employers assume that professionally dressed job seekers are better workers. Therefore, professionally dressed individuals get better chances of get elected for the second interview. As a personal shopper, an employee has to support and encourage the clients in selecting professional clothing and accessories suitable for their personality. Personal shoppers assist the clients in managing a wardrobe that contains many items that can be mixed and matched to many others for putting on the workplace. Along with clothing and accessories’ choices, the personal shoppers also direct clients for opting for suitable hairstyles, piercings, tattoos and other things for managing professional images. Clients’ needs can be effectively met by assisting them with suitable attires for their professional interviews and workplace environment. 3.What are some of the challenges our job seekers faced before arriving at WHW? Provide the top 5 challenges you can recall.  There are many challenges that job seekers faced before arriving at WHW due to which, they wanted the assistance of some supporting authority. Out of those, the five top challenges according to my analysis are homelessness, continued unemployment, lack of confidence, unacceptable presentation in the interviewing sessions and job termination or losing employment all of a sudden because of additional requirements or skills required. 4. What are the main 4 services offered by the Employment Readiness Department? Provide a brief explanation of each.  The four main services offered by the Employment Readiness Department are ‘customized resume development’, ‘interview preparation’, ‘weekly job leads’ and ‘ongoing support for job retention’. For the service of customized resume development, resume specialists at WHW assist the clients on individual basis to present their skills, qualifications and accomplishments in a manner that attracts potential employers. For the service of interview preparation, clients are assisted to be successful at interviews by providing them with diverse interview formats, analyzing interviewing questions and presenting mock interviews. Weekly job leads involves review of new job leads, their placement as per their industry and location and sending them through emails to clients so that they can post their resumes accordingly. The clients are assisted with proper follow up as required. Lastly, for ongoing support for job retention, clients who are placed on new jobs are supported by providing them with follow up services for job retention and employment success ranging between 30 to 180 days. 5. Describe in your words the Employment Incentive Program? How does the client benefit? Why is it important to WHW?  Employment incentive program benefits those clients who are successful in getting an employment with the help of WHW. The clients are required to fill in a WHW incentive enrollment form that can be used for providing incentive to clients. The first incentive that the clients receive is the 30 day employment incentive that a client receives after activation of enrollment form and submission of the current paystub. After getting 30 day employment incentive, the clients get additional 60, 90, 120 and 180 days incentives. Clients get benefited monetarily. The program is important to WHW because the completed WHW incentive enrollment form can be used for extracting results of WHW’s programs to their funders. 6.Scenario #1: A client just called WHW and you answered the phone. This is what the client shared with you I have been a stay at home mom all my life, but my husband recently passed away and I need to start working. I dont know here to get started. Someone told me about WHW, but I dont know how this works. Can you help me? a. What would you recommend? Where should she get started? What workshop would you sign her up for?  Initially, I would ask her to join our program of computer training so that she could start working with the computers that are essential for any job. Along with computer training, I would recommend the client to join the job club and learn resume development and application creation skills. Therefore, the workshop that appears most suitable for the client is related to computer training and will enable the client to learn about basic computer usage, and software programs like outlook, word and excel. Scenario #2: A client just walked into WHW and you are covering the front. The client is asking about the possibility of getting free professional clothing. Someone told her WHW provides this service for free. What information would you provide her? What if this client is a male? Think about our referral process.  I will tell her that anyone can get free professional clothing, but we need reference of our referral partners. Males as well as females can take our support, but firstly, they must register with any of our referral agency. With this referral, she will be able to get the professional dressing that suits her personality along with other accessories. In totality, she will be able to develop a professional image with elevated personal style and competitive advantage to present herself at her workplace. 7.What is the most important thing to remember when receiving donations in the processing center? What is the end goal? Why is it so important?  The donations that are received in the processing center need to be new or gently used, these can be male and female clothes, accessories and if they are hygiene items, they must be unopened as per the organizational policy. After they are received, the donation assistant is responsible for signing and filing an acknowledgement form and sorting the attained products according to WHW standards. The end goal of this sorting and acknowledgement is that clients and donors both feel accomplished in giving and receiving the products. WHW considers itself for acknowledging the contribution of donors in order to encourage them and believes that the received products prove themselves beneficial for the receivers. 8.Donations are sorted into 4 distinctive categories. Pretend you are training a new volunteer; in detail describe what items belong in each of these categories.  There are four categories of donations that we receive at WHW that are financial contribution from individuals as well as corporations, clothing, accessories and hygiene items donations, in-kind donations and vehicle donations. Financial contribution from individual donors is for providing self-sufficiency to low income families and forty percent of our overall donations depend on individual contributions. Ninety cents from every dollar is for the support of low-income and underprivileged job seekers. Corporate financial donations is for providing empowerment to individuals and families to become self-sufficient through successful employment. Eighty-nine cents from every dollar are invested in programs for job seekers to make them self-sufficient. Clothing, accessories and hygiene items donations are for underprivileged job seekers who look for professional clothing such as suits, blazers, skirts, shirts and so on, accessories like jewelry, shoes, bags, so on and hygiene items like body wash, toothbrushes, so on. Clients are provided with shopping services from the donations as per their personality and job requirements. Along with financial, clothing and accessories’ contributions, other items that are required on daily basis for the empowerment of job seekers are also welcomed under in-kind donations that include bulk clothing and accessories from manufacturers and retailers, gift cards for shopping or discounts and other miscellaneous items such as copy papers, laptops, digital camera, and so on. Then, there are vehicle donations for which, WHW works in collaboration with Cars 4 Causes. Vehicles are sold to get cash for supporting the clients and all kind of vehicles donations are accepted such as ‘Cars, Trucks, Boats, RVs, Motor Homes, Motorcycles, Off Road Vehicles, Heavy Equipment and most other motorized vehicles’. 9.I am your classmate and I ask you this: Where are you interning?
