"Advantages and Disadvantages of the Four Technologies of Training Equipment" is a perfect example of a paper on fitness and exercises. The four basic types of physical exercising equipment are constant resistance equipment, variable resistance equipment, static resistance equipment, and accommodating or supportive resistance equipment. Each of the four types of equipment is used to different extents by the general exercising, sports training, and bodybuilding communities. While any type of physical activity possesses the risk of potential physical harm, all four types of training are essentially beneficial for the health and wellbeing of anyone who utilizes them positively.

Constant resistance training is the most widely practiced type of resistance training. Free weights, the most common type of static resistance devices, are beneficial for the stabilizer muscles of the body which are rarely exercised in routine work (Gamble 60). The free weight also allows for the performance of many different types of muscle movements. Variable resistance is very beneficial for endurance athletes as challenging the body at the end of the endurance limit results in marked performance improvement. However, the resistance variation is an artificial circumstance not natural for the human mind and body. Also, high resistance in the earlier part of the movement can cause novice exercisers to try ill-advised methods of moving weight and attain an injury as a result. Accommodating resistance devices are the best type of resistance devices for beginners as they help the exerciser throughout the exercise movement by adjusting the resistance. Static resistance training is only advisable for expert exercisers as there are no notable benefits attached to this type of training. For professional bodybuilders, static resistance training can help in rounding off the different ways in which a muscle is worked.
