Task What parts of Catholicism did Martin Luther keep after the Reformation? Outline Introduction The introduction covers the general history of the Roman Catholic Church and the Lutheran Church. The Break Away This section covers the main aspects that led to the breakaway of the two dominations. The Lutheran Church and Catholicism This part depicts the similarities between the two churches and what Martin Luther kept from Catholism Conclusion . Introduction In the 16th century, the Catholic Church replicated upon the routine nature of the late Roman Empire, which had turned to be exceedingly strong, but was corrupt internally. From the 12th century henceforth, there were protests for reforms in the church. In the period, of 1215 to 1545, a couple of church-councils started reforms as their key intentions and not all the churches in the meeting reached a consensus. In the start of the 19th century, the Catholic Church encountered a vast range of artistic, communal and geo-political alterations that were called the reformations. The Catholics and those who protested mutually demanded reforms; however, the manner that they struggled for the reforms differed in a great manner. The reformation commenced at the end of October in the year 1517, when Martin Luther who was a German monk inadvertently ignited an uprising (McGrath 11). With the aid of the Ignatius, Metto and associates of the Trent Council, the Catholic Church established a rather flourishing response. Nevertheless, the splitting up of the entire Catholic Church would be the definitive hardship that the original Catholics had to tolerate because of this development of novel ideas. The scuffle to dominate populace’s values and belief’s would generate a civilization of religious pluralism, as it is currently recognized (Ferguson 57). The protestant way was centered at diminishing the Catholic religion economically, opinionated and publicly, while pressure from those protesting made the Catholics into frequent fights to boost their own accusations and develop their corrupt nature. Faith and trust are the means of grace and god himself is the Supreme Being who awards this to human beings. The Lutheran Church and the Catholic Church have similarities that are the basis of both religions. The Break Away The conventional Catholic Church was selling lenience for the aim of getting money, corrupt funds that were employed to perform endeavors that interested them (Baker, Robert and John 199). For instance, they sold Jubilee lenience just next to the Witten burg Castle with the aim of generating money for Saint Peter’s situated in Rome. Martin Luther became perplexed and angry at the Church’s activity of selling the indulgences. Thus, he retorted to his individual loathing of this observation by posting a directory of complaints opposing the Catholic Church. The list of complaints was termed as The Ninety-Five Theses (Luther and Stephen 47). Therefore, he began a religious upheaval that was later recognized as the Reformation of the Protestants. Luthers lessons of Sola Fide productively destabilized the Catholic Churchs endeavor to achieve economic affluence by, the manner of remitting evil and shortening appointments to purgatory for the aim of making profits. He achieved this by discoursing that faith only could bring deliverance. He educated that, mans deliverance is entirely reliant upon the Supreme Being’s action, and it is never conditioned by a man’s actions and deeds. A person’s option of sin has made him unable of the religious action; he is religiously dead, and unless the person is freed from a basis remote of himself, he will everlastingly die in this condition. This knowledge caused immense financial suffering for the Catholic Church by humiliating their declarations that indulgences eliminate sin from a person’s life. Johannes Gutenburg’s discovery of the printing press permitted Luther’s reforms to diversify all through Europe (Rees 8). Before this invention, books and bibles were uncommon, and people assumed that the Conventional Church had the Final say in matters of Deity and God. Only the leaders of the Catholic Church had the scriptures of the Bible with them. The elite and the monks were perceived to be the only ones who could decipher and interpret the bible. Set laws were set to prevent people from owning bibles. The Protestants’ opposition declined visual imagery and persisted in the dominance of the scripture. Consequently, it was predictable that heap production of Luthers theses would successfully unite Protestants and convey a sense of transformation to their grounds, ultimately underpinning the political beliefs of the Roman Catholic Church (Norman, 56). The Lutheran Church and Catholicism The Lutheran Church emerging from Luther’s opposition in the medieval period, questioned the Roman Catholic Church’s power over a number of matters (Gribble 173). These issues became the separating factors amid the two Churches. The Lutheran Church and the Catholic Church have similarities that are the basis of both religions. These are the parts that Martin Luther kept or agreed with after the reformation. Martin Luther kept the chronological and liturgical manner of the Catholic Church. This is eminent because the Lutheran Church tags on the liturgical calendar and organization of mass. The Lutheran Church posses Episcopal outlines of church domination despite practicing congregational polity. The Lutheran Church together with the Anglican Church was a traditional reformation and contrasted the reformed movement that is the reason of the resemblance of the Anglican/Episcopal and Lutheran Churches narrowly look like the Catholic Church, in faith and performance than the protestant churches. A number of individuals belonging to the Lutheran Church do not perceive being protestants because of oblique connections with the Renewed and Evangelical Churches. Whilst the Lutheran Church is not traditionally Catholic, it is in some sense a Catholic Church. Some elevated-church powers are tagged "Evangelical Catholic." The cardinal set of rule of the Lutheran Church depicts that salvation is by God’s grace and that a person has no control in saving himself by his individual works. The endeavors are the benefits of salvation and not a capital of achieving it (Todd 8). Faith and trust are the means of grace and god himself is the Supreme Being who awards this to human beings. Therefore, the mantra of Lutheran theory that says salvation is received merely from grace via faith (Schmucker 12). The Lutheran and the Roman Catholic Church mutually agreed a joint declaration depicting that it is only by grace in trust and faith in Christ’s saving endeavors, and not because of any advantage on the clergy part that people are accepted by Christ and the Holy Spirit, who rekindles, fills hearts and summons people to virtuous deeds. Just like the Catholic Church, the Lutherans continue to endeavor to humanitarian attempts and efforts in the entire world. The Lutheran church made all efforts to eradicate corruption in religion and stood strong in addressing the novel beliefs and salvation. Despite the universal separation, of the two dominations, the feeling and attitude of religious pluralism that developed helped people to perceive religious salvation that is eminent today. The Lutheran church still upholds the council of Trent including an established seminary system for the clergy’s training, and development of the Lutheran liturgy as the grounds of service (McGrath 2007). The Lutheran church reasserts its principles, placed faith in the bible and in tradition, asserts transubstantiation and the occurrence in God at mass, convention of all power to the Papacy and the fixation of the seven sacraments. Both the Catholic and the Lutheran prove their capability of action, and subsequent implementation of the symbol of the orthodox faith. When analyzing the Reformation a person ought to bear in mind that there is no right remedy in tackling the squabbles amongst the Catholics and the Protestants because corruption was on both sides of the struggle. However, the lasting amendments that we have come to comprehend in this time of age must still be memorized. Conclusion The Lutheran church just like the Catholics traces the unique origin of their church through apostolic succession (Norman 11). This is traced back to the centuries of the pioneer churches and the apostles of Christ. The Lutheran Churches have a leader even though they do not maintain apostolic succession for the reason of attaining the influence of a ‘pope’ as their perfect leader. Up to date they still uphold the association to the pioneer churches in at least some manner of determining the power of their practice and set of decrees (Fahlbusch and Geoffrey 274). The issue with these endeavors to outline the procession of succession to the first disciples is not vital for a church to gain power over its people. The Almighty has provided supreme power for all aspects of faith and function in the bible. Works cited Baker, Robert A, and John M. Landers. A Summary of Christian History.
